  1. From the halcyon days when young men wanted to look mature.

  2. I've got a Varsity Town tailcoat and trousers sold by Kaufman's of Pittsburgh, pre-1960. A really nice piece of work, though the thick cloth and huge lapels make it a period piece. It serves me well at the occasional formal dance.

  3. I have a Varsity-Town (labeled with a dash in the name) sport coat inherited from my father which is from Coles Men's Wear of Battle Creek. It is probably early- mid 50s, as he left Battle Creek in 1956. It is also heavy, with a herringbone-like pattern. The lapels are not so large as to look out of place today. Well tailored and nicely lined.
