  1. A venerable brand. I owned Alligator raincoats (and gaberdine topcoats) for many years. Fine coats. And, as your example shows, their advertisements were spot on.

    If I recall correctly, Alligator was a closely held company and suffered the fate of so many family-owned businesses, self-destructing for lack of a capable 2nd generation. It surrendered its market share to London Fog in the 1960s.
