Interesting to see that by '57, they'd all moved to narrow ties, but still retained noticeably wider lapels -- perhaps simply a function of it being cheaper to buy new ties than new suits and sportcoats?
As for "wholesome," I don't think anybody's ever accused Cornellians of being incapable of deploying irony.
